Bozdon Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Along the Buzdon Ridge, Tamdytau Mountains, Central Kyzylkum. 3.S.Rumyantseva, 1959 (382, p.74); 1965 (457, p.345); 1974 (386, p.21). Stratotype 2 km north of the 3rd Belkuduk column, at the eastern end of the Buzdon Ridge, Muruntau Mountains.
Synonym: Bozdonskaya Suite, Боздонская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Light gray and gray fine- and medium-bedded algae-foraminiferal, detrital, crinoidal, organogenic-clastic limestones. In Aktau, strongly altered with recrystallized organic remains. Thickness up to 150 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is located in a continuous section with underlying deposits of the base of the Lower Moscovian Substage (Aljutovella aljutovica Zone) of the Kokchin Fm
Upper contact
It is overlying Azhriktin Fm (Ajhrikhtin Fm).
Regional extent
Central Kyzylkum, Tamdytau Mountains, Muruntau, and Aktau. Corresponds to the upper part of the Severomuruntau Fm.

Contains a complex of foraminifers of the Lower Moscovian Zone Aljutovella priscoidea - Eostaffella mutabilis Raus., Neostaffella subquadrata (Gr. et Leb.), N. umbilicata (Putrja), Ozawainella mosquensis Raus., Profusulinella convoluta (Lee et Chen), P. muruntavica Rum., Ovatella constans (Saf.), Depratina prisca (Depr.), D. paratimanica (Raus.), Taitzehoella prolibrovichi (Raus.), Aljutovella saratovica (Putrja et Leont.), Skelnevatella isvarica (Putrja), S. cafirniganica (Bensh), Eofusulina triangula (Raus. et Bel.), E. corpulenta Rum.; brachiopods - Choristites ex gr. mosquensis Fisch., C. cf. priscus Fisch.; among algae, representatives of the genus Beresella predominate.
